Fees: The registration fee for this program in US Dollars per student is 1319 US$ if student number exceeds 35. The cost is subject to change depending on the attendance number and the situation during that time.

Goal of this program The courses offered in this program integrate the study of Chinese lan- guages, Taiwan culture and Taiwan local travel. Combining the study of this college’s expertise in designing professional and multiple courses in Chinese cuisine, western dim sum and bar-tender training, this program aims to improve students’ understanding of Chinese languages and Taiwan culture. All these experiences will further their acquaintance with Taiwan.
Program Time
This program will be held each year’s winter and summer vacation. The exact time for program will adjust based on the on-going situation then. The target students are youths from countries all over the world. English is the major auxiliary language other than Chinese.
Language Courses Preliminary Chinese is the main language. Emphasis is laid on acquiring vocabularies for practical usages, oral practices and picking up terminologies for ordinary lives. In addition to this course, the supplementary units of teaching Hoklo and Hakka languages are also included. In a very short period of time, students are expected to be able to learn and apply the know-how simultaneously and understand the major and minor languages used by Taiwanese people.
Culture Courses This series of related courses are taught by teachers from civil associations accompanied by interpreters and conducted in the forms of seminars of specific topic, demonstration and practical exercises etc. The themes of these courses cover Taiwan food culture, paste shaping, calligraphy, Taiwan aboriginal culture, Chinese knots, Taiwanese puppet show, Taiwanese opera, Chinese painting, Chinese martial arts, molding and hand-making of unfired earthen ware, “the Way of Tea” etc. A certain topics of the courses are subject to change based on weighing the situation at that time.
Chinese Cuisine and Western Dim Sums(offered by the Department of Hospitality)
Reinforced by Hsing Wu college’s specialty, this program schedules to arrange students for personal experiences of having Chinese delicious food, studying the cuisine and then the students should attend 8 hours of practical exercises, 4 hours of techniques for beverage service and bartender training, such as “Knowing Beverages”, “ An Introduction of Brewing and Tasting Wines”,“Coffee Making”, “Jobs of Brewing Wine” etc and 8 hours of practical exercises of Western dim sum bakery. These will make students experience the different jobs of food-making and tasting the diet made by themselves.
Taiwan Travel Experiences:
According to the schedule so far, this program arranges ten days of outdoor excursion to help students understand Taiwan. The main travel destinations include the visits to the following places with beautiful and gorgeous sceneries, namely historic relic at southern part of Taiwan, religious celebration, Hakka cultural activities, aboriginal cultural activities, city tour, tropical ocean scenic spots, and the foreign youths’ favorite Eastern Taiwan natural scenes of Taroko National Park, Chihpen Hot Springs resort in Taitung etc. During these visits, assigned tour guides will offer interpretation of local history and Taiwan ecological environment to make foreign friends have further understanding of Taiwan’s geography and culture.
Program Completion:
After the completion of this program, each student will be awarded a tour study completion certificate for them to remember the experiences here.
Fees:
I.Program Fees This fee include tuition, textbooks, cost of housing and meals, all ex- penses in travels(including accommodation and meals) and travel security insurance.
II. This fee does not include air fares(round trip), passport or visa application fees and personal expenses, such as excessive baggage charges, special meal charges, telephone charges, laundry fees and other extra charges because of the plans not included in the program schedule.
Foreign students who are interested in Chinese culture or Taiwan experiences are eligible to attend this program.
